Visitor's Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of service is it?

It is a "traditional" service using a mix of Bible readings, sermon, hymns and songs with organ and piano and choir, announcements, prayer requests, etc. There is a special "Children's Message" every service and other special items as circumstances and seasons warrant.

Do I need to dress up?

No. Some people wear suits, ties, and dresses. Others dress casually in sport shirts and slacks or jeans. Please dress as you feel comfortable.

Do I need to make an offering?

No. We do pass an offering plate but no one is required to make an offering. We encourage giving if the Spirit of the Lord has moved you to do so as a "cheerful giver".

Do I need to stand and speak?

No. We do ask those who are able in the congregation to stand at times as we sing and pray together, but you will not be required to speak to the congregation by yourself.

Can I take communion?

You do not have to be a member of the church to take communion with us. We do ask, however, that only those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior share with us in the sacrament of communion.

Where should I sit?

Any seating is available to you.

Can I bring children?

Yes, children are welcome at all services.

Is a nursery available?

Yes, for children up through 5 yrs. old.

Will I need to sign in?

No, but we encourage you to let us know that you're a first-time guest by filling out the card located in the back of the pews and to place the card in the offering plate. You can also include your name and other information on the attendance form found in each pew.

How long does the service last?

Each service lasts approximately one hour.

How big of a church are you?

Approximately 40-70 people currently attend the morning worship service.

How do I join the church?

Pastor Helen Kester offers a six-week seminar on Presbyterianism each spring and also in the fall if necessary. Those wishing to join are asked to complete that seminar along with providing a written personal statement of their faith in Jesus Christ.
